So, we’ve asked everyone we know for their rain gear recommendations and put together a great list of the best rain gear for kids to keep them warm and dry this spring.     With winter slowly retreating and spring desperately trying to make its way in, a lot of us are stuck somewhere in the middle. April showers are sprinkling, but there’s not enough sunshine and heat to dry everything up. We call this the “Mud Season.”

    While it may still be cool and wet outside, after a (seemingly) lifetime of snow and ice, I think we’re all ready to get outdoors! Whether your family enjoys camping, fishing, or cross-country skiing, having the right rain gear for kids is essential for a successful outdoor adventure. When braving harsh weather conditions, make sure your kids are equipped with reliable waterproof rain gear.

    We get a lot of questions about how to dress your kids for this crazy in-between season that will keep them warm, but also protect them from all the mud, muck and dirt. Here’s a list of some of the best kids’ rain gear, including all our favorite brands and styles. We’ve updated this list for 2024 to include the latest new arrivals in waterproof rain gear for kids and kids’ rain jackets, perfect for tackling harsh weather conditions with ease.

    Rain suits are such a great option when dressing your kids for outdoor wet weather. A rain suit is a one-piece full-body outfit that goes over your child’s clothes to keep them warm and dry when playing outside from head to toe. They usually run a bit big, so that they’ll fit well over lots of layers of clothing and outerwear. Some are even fleece-lined for an extra layer of warmth.

    Rain suits are an easy option for dressing your kids quickly with lots of protection. Most have stirrups at the bottom of the pant legs – don’t forget that these go OUTSIDE and OVER the bottom of your kids’ boots. This will help keep all the water out and their feet/legs nice and dry!

    Here are our favorite options for the best one-piece full-body rain suits for kids, chosen at different price points.

    Polarn O Pyret ($129)

    Polarn O. Pyret makes a high-quality pile fleece-lined rain suit with a detachable hood. The suit has a soft, warm pile fleece lining to keep kids warm when playing outside in the rain and snow. The detachable hood is fastened with snaps and has elastic in the sides. While the waistband has elastic in the sides, and the rain suit has elastic wrist and ankle cuffs. The replaceable elastic stirrups keep the pant legs in place. Windproof material keeps chilly winds out and reinforced knees and seat keeps the suit from tearing/ripping when kids play hard outside. The quality of these suits can’t be beaten and if you’ve got multiple kids that you’d like to pass suits down to over the years, this is the way to go.

    Oakiwear makes a great one-piece waterproof rain and trail suit for toddlers and kids. Sizes start at 12 months of age and go up to big kids size 10/11. The suits have a neoprene ankle cuff for grip around rubber rain boots. Adjustable velcro straps on the wrist and ankle cuffs for a customized fit.     Wheat is a Canadian company that makes a classic spring/summer rain suits for babies and toddlers (9 months to 3 years).  They come in a variety of beautiful muted colors (mustard, olive, anchor and powder). They’re waterproof and windproof with heat-sealed seams. The fabric wipes off easy with a damp cloth. Removable hood with elasticized opening, as well as elasticized sleeve and ankle cuffs. There’s an inside tab for hanging and an inside name and address label, plus a matching carry bag.

    Muddy Buddy ($29)

    Tuffo Muddy Buddy Waterproof Coveralls are a great affordable option for year-round play. With dual front zippers for quick, on-the-go changes, a generous fit for layering of clothing and easy movement, these coveralls are a big hit with kids. They’re constructed with rugged durable polyester fabric, with an elasticized hood with brim to shed water. The seams are sealed to ensure waterproof-ness with elasticized wrist and ankle cuffs fit over mitts and boots. They’re machine washable and come in five colors in sizes from 12 months to 5T.

    The best rain boots for kids

    There are a ton of options out there on the market for kids’ rain boots. However, not all kid’s rain boots are made to last. We’ve had quite a few pairs fall apart, crack, leak and fail to keep my kids’ feet warm and/or dry. Not all boots even make it through a season, yet alone can be passed down from kid to kid. Here are our favorite choices for rain boots for kids that are durable, high-quality and worth your money.

    Highest quality/price

    Polarn O. Pyret ($39 – $64)

    Polarn O. Pyret makes two kinds of kids boots, a classic striped rain boot, and a wool-lined winter rubber boot. Both boots are made from a waterproof material with a water column of at least 10,000 mm and BIONIC-FINISH® ECO water repellence, an eco-friendly technology free from PFCs. The classic rubber boots have 3M reflectors at the back, sturdy soles and reinforced rear sections for better durability. They are cute and striped and come in classic gender-neutral colors. The winter boots are made of recyclable SEBS rubber that is PVC-free and very lightweight. They have a removable, warm wool lining. In addition, the boots are machine washable. Sizes are from 4.5/5 (baby) to 1.5/2 (6-8 years). PO.P boots may have a slightly higher price than some other options, but we think they’re worth every penny, as you’ll be able to use them and pass them down for years.

    Bogs ($39 – $58)

    Bogs makes great rain boots for kids in two varieties – a classic rubber waterproof boot and a high waterproof insulated boot. The Bogs classic rubber boots are 100% waterproof, lightweight and flexible. Side handles make them easy to pull on. A non-slip outsole keeps kids steady on their feet. They have a cushioned footbed with a moisture-wicking lining. The insulated boots are waterproof and lightweight, made with a durable rubber over a four-way stretch inner bootie for dry feet. They’re made with 7mm Neo-Tech insulation to keep feet warm and comfortable in cold weather. Comfort rated to -30 Degrees F/-34 Degrees C, with sturdy handles that make it easy for little kids to get on and off. My oldest son has these insulated Bogs boots for winter hunting/fishing for years and we’ve never had an issue with the quality.

    Stonz ($59)

    Stonz makes a really great (and highly recommended) all-season neoprene boot for boys & girls. These rain boots are made of natural rubber with no harmful additives such as lead, PVC, phthalates, cadmium, etc. The paint is lead-free, and the glue is formaldehyde-free. Made of thick and soft rubber that makes them flexible and comfortable, yet rugged to last a long time. They have a 100% cotton liner that quickly wicks away moisture, so the boots dry quickly and the feet stay warm and dry.

    Oakiwear ($19 – $49)

    Oakiwear also makes a great rain boot for kids in two different styles – a classic rain boot with easy-on handles and a neoprene muck boot. The classic waterproof rubber rain boots with easy-on handles are made of 100% rubber and include topside handles for easy pull-on. These boots are sure to keep your kiddos dry in the rain and puddles. They come in a variety of colors, patterns, and designs (stripes, polka dots, sharks, flowers, camo, etc.), as well as classic solid colors.     Hatley ($33 – $39)

    If you’re looking for the absolute cutest and most colorful boots around, you’ll find them at Hatley. Hatley’s rainboots are handmade vulcanized waterproof rubber, with slip-resistant soles and 100% cotton lining. They have a removable insole and are PVC-Free. Optional matching Fuzzy Boot Liners sold separately. Come in classic solid colors, prints for girls and prints for boys (which match their rain jackets). Available in sizes 4-7 for toddlers and 8-13 for little kids.

    Kamik ($30)

    Kamik Stomp rain boots are handcrafted to the highest standards, ensuring consistent quality, comfort and durability. Designed in Boise, Idaho, Lone Cone collaborates with local artists to create patterns inspired by the joys of childhood, as well as classic solids. Their newest prints include mermaids, horses, rainbows, sharks, dinos, and cars. All three of my kids have Lone Cone boots and love them!

    ZOOGS ($15)

    ZOOGS makes super cute classic waterproof rain boots for girls and boys. The boots are waterproof and fast-drying. A sturdy and durable rubber sole protects your children’s feet for long-lasting and assured safety. Easily dry and clean these rainboots with a simple cloth or paper towel. The lightweight PVC plastic remains highly flexible and comfortable.

    Crocs ($22 – $35)

    Crocs Handle It Rain Boots keeps those puddle-jumping feet cozy and dry. They have oversized handles that make them easy for kids to take these boots on and off, and also include a reflective heel logo for safety. A generous, roomy fit, plus extremely lightweight keeps on their feet for long periods of time. The material makes these rain boots extremely easy to clean – just wash in cold water and mild soap and allow to dry. They are available in a number of bright solid colors.

    Every kid who plays outside needs a classic raincoat. Even if you have a full-body rain suit, a rain jacket is a must-have item for any outdoor kid who spends time outside. We’ve put together this list of the best classic rain coats and rain jackets for kids on the market. These have been tried and tested by our kids and recommended by our team members and online community.

    If you’re looking for the best kids’ rain jacket on the market, this is probably it! Helly Hansen makes amazing gear for kids (and adults) that truly stands up in all weather conditions. Their kids rain jacket has HELLY TECH performance 2-layer construction, is waterproof, breathable and windproof. It has a fully seam sealed and a detachable hood. And because kids are all different sizes, they come with adjustable hems and cuffs for an optimized fit. Helly Hansen also makes an insulated version, if you’re looking for warmth, as well as rain protection.

    Polarn O. Pyret ($39 – $106)

    Polarn O. Pyret offers three varieties of raincoats and rain jackets for kids. The waterproof jacket ($106) is perfect for layering over bibs or other outerwear. It’s PFC-free, waterproof and windproof, with a removable hood and a full zipper with chin guard. The unique snap-in solution makes it easy to attach it to the wind fleece inside the jacket. We have one of these shells and it really is top-notch durable gear. The second option is a pile fleece-lined waterproof rain jacket ($76). This jacket is windproof and PFC free and perfect for cold, rainy days. The jacket has a striped front and back, and solid color sleeves, with a detachable hood fastened with snaps. Finally, the classic striped rain jacket ($39 – $54) is windproof and waterproof, with a detachable hood that is fastened with snaps and the inside of the collar is lined with soft fleece.

    REI Co-op Rainier Rain Jacket ($80)

    REI Co-op makes some great gear for kids. Their Rainier Rain Jacket is a family favorite. This jacket has a 2.5-layer recycled ripstop nylon shell with HydroWall™ membrane that shields them from rain and wind up to 50+ mph, while staying breathable and dry on the inside. The taped seams provide waterproof protection; a nonfluorinated durable water repellent (DWR) finish helps moisture bead up on the surface. The hood has a rain brim, hook-and-loop adjustment tab in back, and elastic on the sides of the opening for a comfortable fit. Adjustable cuffs seal out the elements and reflective details help with visibility in low-light conditions.

    North Face ($49 – $55)

    The North Face makes a few really fantastic rain jackets for kids. We particularly love the Zipline (for infants/toddlers 0-3 months through kids XL) and the Resolve jackets. They’re durable, lightweight and weatherproof with a hood and breathable mesh-lining. The full-length front zipper with Velcro® closure keeps rain out, as well as the elastic cuffs.

    Reima makes outstanding quality outerwear for kids! You can’t go wrong with anything from their outdoor collection of rainwear or winter/ski wear. The Reima Lampi waterproof rubber rain jacket is top-notch. The waterproof fabric and welded seams mean this jacket is excellent for VERY wet surroundings: active play and outdoor life in heavy rain or wet snow. The ample sizing means your child can layer up underneath and wear this jacket all year round. Comes in a variety of great solid colors.

The girl’s Rain-zilla and Arcadia jackets are great options for full waterproof protection that will keep your little one warm and dry.

    LL Bean ($39)

    The LL Bean kids Discovery Rain Jacket is one of the best on the market and a rainy-day essential at a terrific price. The jacket packs in its own pocket – making it easy for kids to take wherever they go. It’s designed using the same materials and details you’ll find in the adult version, with rugged, waterproof nylon fabric, taped seams and a breathable mesh lining. And it has a 3M™ Scotchlite™ back triangle and zipper to enhance low-light visibility. Made from recycled materials and always PVC-free, Reima has a great range of rain gear that can be paired together to create an entire rain outfit for any age.

    Puddlegear ($65)

    Puddlegear  Bib Rainpants are PVC and phthalate-free, wind and water-proof. Double knees are for added protection (square pattern and heat-sealed into the seams) in the same color with Euro pops to adjust the sides. There are reflective strips for added visibility and optional boot straps. They come in a variety of solid colors, with matching rain jackets, rain mittens and hats.

    Patagonia ($80)

    Patagonia makes great rain pants for toddlers and kids. These rain pants have a 3-layer, waterproof/breathable H2No Performance Standard shell, which provides a high level of comfort, performance and long-lasting waterproof durability. The entire garment is seam sealed to keep out water. They have stretchy, elasticized straps that are comfortable and secure with easy on/off buckles, plus they’re adjustable to accommodate growth spurts.

    Polarn O. Pyret Rain Mittens ($19 – $23)

    Polarn O. Pyret makes a great waterproof rain mitten for babies, toddlers and kids. The solid colored rain mittens have elasticized cuffs, are windproof and waterproof, with welded seams. These mittens are a staple for outdoor school children.

    Outdoor Research Rain Rain Go Away Hat ($20-$30)

    Keep your kid’s head covered in any weather with a wide brimmed hat with a long cape in the back. This kids’ Rain Rain Go Away hat from Outdoor Research lets wet weather roll off without a fuss. It’s waterproof and breathable, made from lightweight fabric. It has a UPF 50 (so it also can serve as a sun hat), with a foam-stiffened brim at the front, a cape at the back, and a seam-taped crown. OR has another kids’ rain hat version called the Seattle Rain Hat, which doesn’t have the long back cape, which is a great option for older kids.

    Puddlegear Mittens ($32)

    Puddlegear makes rain mittens and hats to match their rain jackets and pants. The rain mittens are lined in soft fleece to keep those little hands warm.     The biggest challenge to getting outdoors with your kids or something you struggle with?

    We live in Louisiana so it has been in the upper 90s and 100s for the past seeeeeveral weeks (or months). Right now, that’s definitely the hardest thing for us!

    Favorite outdoor experience from this past year?

    Recently, my husband and I took our kids (ages 7 and 3) to Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, and Tropic Reservoir. We hiked, played in streams complete with waterfalls, experienced the splendor of hoodoos and arches. We saw wildlife we’d never seen before, as well as wildlife that was once endangered but making a come-back. There were even deer that came within feet of our campfire while we were making s’mores. It was relaxing and thrilling and rejuvenating, all balled into one. The kids were completely in their element, never once were the words, “we’re bored” uttered. Neither kids nor parents wanted to leave when it was time to go home. It was a really fantastic trip.

    Favorite outdoor activity to do with the kids?

    My favorite thing to do outside with the kids is exploring the tide pools. No matter how many times we visit, or how many anemones, urchins, crabs, and sea stars we find, it’s always exciting. From marine life discoveries to digging in the sand, to tossing rocks, to simply splashing in the water, the kids love it.

    What would people not realize about you from only seeing your Instagram photos?

    Most of my feed feels very urban. I love finding art – particularly street art – and bright, vibrant colors. So, my feed mostly highlights and reflects that. However, those photos are in the minority of how we spend most of our time… outside doing outdoorsy things (like riding bikes, going swimming, hitting the hiking trails, visiting the local beaches, playing at the park). Instagram really is just the most micro snippet of our lives.

    Top 3 bucket list destinations:

    1) Yellowstone National Park: the geyser eruption of Old Faithful, seeing wildlife such as bison and bears in their natural habitat, the waterfalls of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, the colors of Grand Prismatic Spring – oh my gosh, take me there!

    2) Banff, Alberta, Canada: the hiking trails, the turquoise waters of Lake Louise, the vista point in The Valley of Ten Peaks for a view of Moraine Lake – it all looks beyond magnificent.

    3) The Netherlands (can I include an entire country??). I have a lot of Dutch in me, and I would love to see from where my ancestors came. From the tulip fields to the canals to the baked goods the Dutch are known for, I would love nothing more than to experience it all.

    Why is it important to you to raise your children to love nature?

    It’s incredibly important to me that my kids grow up loving and respecting nature. I want my kids to want to go outside and get dirty, explore, and learn. I want them to reach for seashells and sticks instead of an electronic device. Kids should see that what we do (and what we don’t do) can greatly impact our world. I want my kids to love this planet enough to take care of it. There’s only one Earth and it’s important to me to raise kids to love it, appreciate it, and respect it.

    Any upcoming travel adventures planned for this year that you’re excited about?

    This summer our family is headed to Lake Ozark, MO to spend some time with family. I can’t wait to get our family out on the lake, hike some trails, and explore some caves. I foresee sun-kissed skin and very tired kids at the end of each day. Also, I’m excited about real Midwest sweet corn (that stuff is really hard to come by in California). This fall my just oldest and I are headed to Washington D.C. for a few days to check out the monuments, memorials, museums, and tour the White House. And, finally, our family is really hoping to get to Great Basin National Park before winter.

    Friday Favorites: Favorite Outdoorsy Instagrammers, Part 2

    For this week’s Friday Favorites, I’m sharing another installment of my favorite outdoor Instagram photographers. Two of my biggest passions are getting kids outdoors and photography, so I get so excited when I find other parents that share those loves. I’ve selected 8 gorgeous accounts from some of the most talented and inspiring photographers from our little online community. Each of these feeds is chock-full of gorgeous photos, beautiful words and lots of fun outdoor adventures, big and small.

    If you follow us on Instagram, you probably recognize these photographers from our feed and you will certainly see them again (and soon…hint, hint). I have found Instagram to be a wonderful place to not only find an incredible outdoor community, but also to scout locations and get ideas for planning your own outdoor adventures with your kids.     • Favorite outdoor family activity: We really enjoy camping together as a family. As soon as the snow melts in the spring, we pack up the camper and go! We go as often as we can until the campgrounds close in the fall.
    • Biggest struggle/obstacle to getting kids outdoors: In the winter it’s hard because of the cold temps in Minnesota and all the layers involved. Sometimes it takes us thousands of hours just to get out the door, but it’s always worth it once we’re outside and having fun.
    • Advice for other parents about getting their kids outdoors: Getting outside with your kids doesn’t have to be a grand adventure. It doesn’t take hours of planning or preparation. Just going for a walk to look at the nature right outside your door. Or scribble on the driveway with chalk. Kids like the simplicity of being outside and you can often follow their lead on what to do.
    • Tips for taking outdoor adventure photos of kids: The easiest thing to do is take photos of them in the action. Candid shots versus posed ones. That way you aren’t interrupting the moment or bothering them with a camera in their face. You’re just on the edge of the action simply documenting them having fun.
    • Best lesson your kids have taught you about adventuring: Let go!! Don’t control and plan every minute of your outings or adventures. Just go with it and let the moments unfold before you.

    • Favorite outdoor family activity: The kiddos and I love to go hiking and exploring to collect outdoorsy treasures and learn about wildlife and plants!
    • Most anticipated outdoor activity with your kids this winter/spring: Winter is all about tobogganing, skating, and playing in the snow. Spring is all about gardening and hiking!
    • Advice for other parents about getting their kids outdoors: The more you do something the easier it gets. I try to be sure to get outside with my kiddos (with or without my camera) every day for at least an hour. It’s so good for them to get that fresh air and be wild!
    • Tips for taking outdoor adventure photos of kids: My best tip is to go out with a task in mind for them, building sandcastles, hunting for snails, picking a bouquet of wildflowers, puddle jumping. Buckets are always a fave accessory of mine because it gives them a chance to collect and hunt for things to carry back with them. Having a task makes for engaged images that keep them looking busy and entertained!
    • Best lesson your kids have taught you about adventuring: Never EVER leave home without snacks!

    • Favorite outdoor family activity: We love the great outdoors. We are blessed to live in the woods, and we love to hike and hunt for treasures all year round. We also love to camp and own a travel trailer that allows us to get out and explore areas outside of our own backyard.
    • Biggest struggle/obstacle to getting kids outdoors: With my older kids, the biggest struggle is technology. The older they get, the more they are glued to devices. However, we keep a daily limit on screen time and encourage them to get outside when the weather/schedule permits. I rarely have to struggle with my youngest to get her outside. She would play outside 24/7 if I let her!
    • Most anticipated outdoor activity with your kids this winter/spring: In the winter we love to build snowmen and go sledding. Although I will admit, I am already counting down the days (hours!) until spring. I love watching nature bloom all around us and it seems like there is something new to discover almost daily.
    • Tips for taking outdoor adventure photos of your kids: I tend to take a more candid approach. I want to be in the moment, so I sit back and observe and when I see something that inspires me I’ll snap an image. If you force photography on your kids when you are out with them, they will hate it. So make sure you put the camera down and be present as well.
    • Best lesson your kids have taught you about adventuring: Don’t be afraid to get dirty! The best times and the best memories often result in needing a full body hose down before you go back in the house!

    • Favorite outdoor family activity: My favorite outdoor activity do with the kids or as a family would include anything that allows us to enjoy the beautiful scenery Colorado has to offer! Everything from exploring Rocky Mountain National Park, to our local nature areas or even the open space behind our home. We really enjoy anything that gets us away from the street noise and to where we can fully immerse ourselves into nature!
    • Most anticipated outdoor activity with your kids this winter/spring: Warmer weather always brings an increased level of excitement to explore. After the feeling of being cooped up all winter, the warm weather is greatly welcomed and our real adventuring begins! We love to revisit our favorite spots and it is always refreshing to view the scenery through a new lens when the landscape starts to turn green!
    • Advice for other parents about getting their kids outdoors: Just go! The hardest part is usually just getting out the door! Once you’re outside, it’s like a wonderful refresh! Let the kids run and just enjoy the scenery for yourself. My favorite times to go play outside is either an hour or two before naptime, or that golden hour before bedtime. Plus, kids nap better after coming in from playing hard outside!
    • Tips for taking outdoor adventure photos of your kids: My biggest tip would be to just let kids be kids and capture that! Toddlers (especially) do not take direction very well and you will both end up frustrated if you try to make them do something that they are not willing to do (talking from experience here!).
    • Best lesson your kids have taught you about adventuring: The biggest lesson my daughter has taught me about adventuring is to slow down and notice the little things. There are so many little things to see when you take the time to zoom in on the details. The sparkle of a rock, a trail of ants, a leaf in the shape of a heart. It’s amazing what kids will notice. Let them lead your adventure!

    • Favorite outdoor family activity: Our family is happiest when our feet touch the sand, specifically Pacific Coast sand. We love climbing rock formations, searching for sea creatures, exploring caves, drawing in the sand, creating zen gardens, and collecting stones and shells. These are family experiences that never grow old and are fun for every age. Since relocating to Seattle, we’ve completely fallen in love with all the beautiful parks and beaches that line both the Washington or Oregon coasts. We pack up the car and venture to the water’s edge every chance we get.
    • Biggest struggle/obstacle to getting kids outdoors: Rain. We are in the midst of rainy season here in Seattle, and it can really put a damper on adventuring. To make matters worse, adventuring along the coastlines can also mean high winds, especially during the colder months, and let me tell you, the sideways windy rain is just no fun for anyone. We keep an eye on the forecast and make the very most of the rain-free and light-rain days. Moreover, we’ve learned to embrace overcast and even come to love it as preferred adventure weather.
    • Advice for other parents about getting their kids outdoors: I encourage you to embrace both old and new adventures. For example, if you have a particular location that is meaningful to your family, try visiting it during all four seasons. It’s amazing how different your local lake, beach, park or hiking trail can look and feel in different weather conditions. Alternatively, exploring locations that are new to your family can be some of the most memorable. There’s nothing like watching their excitement as they approach a new bend in the path. It’s one of my favorite parts of visiting new locations.
    • Tips for taking outdoor adventure photos of kids: When I photograph my kids on adventures, I have a few goals in mind. First and most importantly, I hope to capture their personalities and their special sibling bond. Second, I love capturing them as they explore and discover. Much of the time, they don’t even know I’m photographing them, which is when I get the most genuine candid captures. Third, I make sure to always pull back to capture the bigger picture and beautiful scenic views of all of our adventure locations. Sweeping views help me tell my story. And finally, I love to capture the details. Adventuring with my children gives me endless opportunities to capture and freeze those precious details forever. Like their little hands showing you the stones they collected, the stone tower they are so proud of, or their favorite adventure sticks.
    • Best lesson your kids have taught you about adventuring: They’ve taught me to stop and breathe the salt air. To look up, look down, and admire and appreciate all the little details nature leaves in our path. And that the woods and the beach are better playgrounds than a jungle gym could ever be.

    • Favorite outdoor family activity: I love playing anywhere there is a little bit of water. Creeks, lakes, and oceans all seem to excite and entertain my kids more than anything else. I think it is partly because they can interact with the environment more. I love just watching them explore and pretend in a new place.
    • Biggest struggle/obstacle to getting kids outdoors: I feel like our schedule is our biggest obstacle. As my kids have gotten older, after-school activities have reduced our free time to just get out and play.
    • Most anticipated outdoor activity with your kids this winter/spring: I always look forward to those few scattered warmer days where we can get out and feel refreshed by the sunshine. We just created some natural play spaces in our woods and I can’t wait to see them put to good use.
    • Advice for other parents about getting their kids outdoors: My advice would be to choose adventures where the kids can take the lead. As we are out exploring, I find my kids have a lot more patience when we go slow and I let them decide our path, stop to search for treasures, or just give them time to sit and play for a while.
    • Tips for taking outdoor adventure photos of kids: I try to be a quiet observer first and watch how they are exploring, then think of creative ways to take the scene. I will look for ways to add depth with foreground or framing with the natural elements.

    • Favorite outdoor family activity: We love pretty much anything outdoors. Anywhere there is space to experience a deeper sense of freedom and wild fills our souls. Hiking, biking, climbing and days at the river are some of our favorite activities. We live pretty close to the coast so we spend time there whenever we can. We love the dunes, tide pools, crabbing and making driftwood forts. Also, we love camping and sleeping under the stars.
    • Most anticipated outdoor activity with your kids this winter/spring: Skiing is one of our favorite winter activities so we look forward to more of that this winter. The kids love Spring skiing when they can wear tank tops and cruise around comfortably in the sun. We also love to road trip every Spring. It is so nice to have a trip to look forward to after the gray winters we often experience here.
    • Advice for other parents about getting their kids outdoors: My kids love an exciting adventure. Tell stories, teach them about the area, make it exciting. When they are little, start slow, but get outside as often as possible so it is just part of what you do. Encourage them by reminding them of how strong they are. Be a team. Also, plenty of snacks and comfortable clothing are essential.
    • Tips for taking outdoor adventure photos of your kids:  I love to get candid moments of my kids. Often, I just follow them, moving around to get different angles and perspectives as we adventure. I find myself running a lot!  I will ask them how fast they can run to something or to check out something cool … any prompts to create action and genuine interest. It is also important to have time to settle in, whenever they have space to just be the most magical moments happen. Forcing them to pose never works for us.
    • Best lesson your kids have taught you about adventuring:  It definitely not about the destination. Remember to pause and take in the beauty. Let go of rigid agenda.

    Friday Favorites: Little Pine Learners

    For today’s Friday Favorites post, I’m sharing one of my favorite resources for fun, educational and nature-centered printables and activities for kids, Little Pine Learners. Little Pine Learners is run by Tara Rondinelli, an early childhood educator and mom to two adorable boys. She believes learning should be hands-on, fun and outdoorsy. She has an amazing talent for coming up with new and fun ways to get kids learning outdoors and incorporating natural materials into a learning environment.

    We had the opportunity to try out a few of her favorite printables (all available in her Teachers Pay Teachers online shop) and absolutely loved them. These printables have been such a big hit at our house this summer. The kids ask to play with them all the time. It’s not only a great way to keep them busy during the long hot summer days, but it keeps them sharp and their little brains active.

    Today I’m going to share some of the ways we’ve used two of her activities and why my kids love them so much. Plus, we’ve got a great interview with Tara all about her passion behind these products and why incorporating nature into learning is so important.

    Story Stones

    My all-time favorite Little Pine Learners product has to be these printable story stones. The Story Stones for Writing & Storytelling package includes 50 colorful graphics to cut out and Mod Podge onto stones, 7 writing prompts to help spark the writing process and 2 story mats to help sequence events and organize writing. All for $3.00!

    To begin, the kids needed to collect rocks to make the story stones. This meant a trip (or three) to our local creek was in order. Stones were evaluated by size, shape, color, and texture to determine if they’d be suitable for our purpose. I love giving kids a mission when we’re out exploring because it gives them something to do and makes them more observant. There’s way less whining and fighting when they’ve got a project to focus on. Once we’d collected enough stones, it was back home to wash them and prep them for the graphics.

    My kids are little, so I took it upon myself to cut out all the graphics to put on the stones. If your kids are a bit older, this would be a great project to help with fine motor skills. When we had the graphics cut out and ready, we used clear Mod Podge to adhere them to the stones. Then another light coat on top to protect and let them dry overnight.

    The next day we took a hike at one of our favorite nature centers. It was going to be a million degrees out that afternoon, so we went as early as possible and took advantage of the tree canopy cover and the cool creek. I told the kids to be as observant as possible and remember what we did and saw because we’d be using our hike as story inspiration later that day.

    When we got home, I pulled out the story stones and set them out in front of the kids. I asked them to choose a few pictures that correlated to something that happened on our hike. My 6 year-old worked on the story mat, since he’s old enough to write a short story about our adventure. The 3 year-old did a sequence mat, so she could tell her story in sequential order. Having both options for different ages and skills was really useful.

    The kids told and retold the story of our hike using as many applicable stones as they could. Each time they got more creative and remembered more things that we saw and heard along the way. They remembered what we talked about and how things felt. What an incredible way to relive a fun experience! And I know that the next time I tell them we’ll be using the story stones after an adventure, they’ll go out of their way to remember even more.

    Other ways to use story stones

    The brilliance of story stones is that you can use them in so many amazing ways. They provide endless possibilities for writing and storytelling and can be used as a prompt to create and inspire all kinds of stories or retell adventures!

    Storytelling – Storytelling is an important skill for kids to learn. It encourages creativity, helps sharpen memory, and improves communication and listening skills in young children. Storytelling with stones can be done as an independent activity, with a classroom of children or sitting around the dinner table as a family.

    Have everyone sit in a circle and pass around a basket filled with story stones. The first person draws a stone and starts the story centered around that graphic. When that person is ready to pass the story on, the next person/child picks a stone and uses the image to inspire a new line in the story. Children love this activity. It encourages creativity, public speaking and it helps build community! Plus, the smooth surface of the stone will calm any anxious storyteller.

    This entire package was a big hit with my 3 year-old, who is obsessed with beginning sounds and matching. Her favorite was the Hands-On Learning center. For this activity, I let her choose a letter and handed her the corresponding printable. We went around the list of objects and she had to decide if the object started with that letter. She’d sound out the word and if it did, she’d cover the picture up with a shell, bead or pom.

    She was surprisingly good at determining what the object was and what letter it started with. She got through the entire alphabet without stopping! I had no idea she had that much persistence.

    We’re still making our way through the rest of the activities in this packet. There are a ton! It should definitely last us all summer.

    About Tara 

    Hello! I am Tara and I live in Wisconsin with my husband and two children. Our boys are two and five years old, so we have a very busy household at the moment!  My husband stays at home with our boys and I am a second-grade public school teacher. My boys and husband stay busy taking care of our yard and home while I’m teaching. I love coming home at the end of the day and doing an activity with my boys. They usually ask me what I have planned right when I walk through the door! I love going on nature walks with my boys. This is when I get the most inspiration for new activities and it’s such a joy to watch them explore nature! My oldest will be going to kindergarten this school year so that will be a big transition for us!

    I have a Bachelors and Masters in Early Childhood Education. I’d love to get some sort of nature certification sometime down the road in the future. Education is so important to me and I consider myself a lifelong learner. I am constantly reading literature to stay current on the research in my profession and interests.

    About Little Pine Learners

    Once I had my boys, I quickly realized how important it is for children to spend time outdoors. When we were outside, I noticed that the fighting and whining stopped and they seemed more content and happy. I also noticed that I felt calmer and more relaxed in an outdoor setting so I started doing some research on the benefits of spending more time in nature. After a while, I began to want to inspire other families to get outside more through fun nature crafts and other outdoorsy learning activities, so Little Pine Learners was born!

    Getting outside

    For most parents, I think the weather is the biggest obstacle to getting kids outside. It’s easy to get outdoors on a nice day, but rough weather always presents extra challenges. It’s important to invest in some dependable kids’ outdoor gear and have it available in an easily accessible spot. Some of our best days of exploring were in the rain when my boys were wearing their Oakiwear rain suits!

    If you can’t get out, reading nature-inspired picture books is a great indoor way to connect with nature. This is an everyday activity in our home. Children will read books over and over again and can inspire a sense of adventure and a love of the great outdoors! We have a large collection of books and reading outdoors has become one of our favorite activities.

    If you need ideas for things to do outdoors, check online. I love the community of nature-loving mamas and teachers that I have found on Instagram! When I first started my account on Instagram, I had no idea that this movement existed and then slowly I found inspiring accounts and started searching through different hashtags. I do read blogs and check out Pinterest and Facebook, but Instagram is my favorite spot for inspiration!

    We had a chance to receive some items from the Moon Child shop and couldn’t be happier with the quality, colors, style and comfort of the clothes. They’re relaxed and comfortable for kids outdoors exploring in nature. The designs are super cute, from classic basics to trendy tees. The colors are very gender-neutral and not overly girly pink or camo boy. The fabric is soft, thick and durable and has held up after a number of washings. They also sent us the sweetest fabric crowns, stickers and temporary tattoos, all of which my kids love playing with!

    We took our Moon Child digs out for a spin in our favorite local creek on a hot late-summer day.     Q&A with Emma and Sophie of Moon Child

    Tell us a bit about you and your family growing up:

    Emma: I spent my younger years growing up with my mum and younger sister. We would spend every day exploring parks and nature reserves near home searching for creepy crawlies + fairies, making mud pies and perfume from flower petals! My mum made every day magical for us and so I think that I have inherited my love of nature and the outdoors from her.

    Sophie: My childhood was similar to Emma’s in the way that my two younger sisters and I were always outside playing and exploring (I can definitely relate to the mud pies and petal perfume!). Our Mum would always take us out and about – we looked forward to the summer holidays when she would have plenty of activities planned for us! My Dad used to also take us on a lot of nature walks through forests and exploring different areas around where we lived, so we spent a lot of time outdoors and my love of nature has grown from there.

    How did Moon Child get started?

    We met in 2015 where we became work colleagues, our friendship grew based around our similar interests and in 2016 we both became Aunties to our awesome little Nieces; Elodie and Tillie. With the little ones on the way, so was our need to spoil them with only the coolest clothing. Having just watched “The True Cost” on Netflix (if you haven’t watched it, do it!) we were bemused with the lack of organic and fair trade cool clothing for little ones. Not only that, but it seemed that the same old ‘pink is for girls’ + ‘blue is for boys’ limited style was still the main offering. Both girls and boys can love dinosaurs and running around in the mud. And in essence, we designed and created clothing with a unisex aimed handwriting and designs.

    After a year of research and sourcing the perfect suppliers, Moon Child was born. Our pieces are handmade in England and the US, sweat-shop free, most of our stock is made from organic cotton but it is our aim to one day be fully organic and we will continue to work towards this.

    What is your personal favorite product in your shop and why?

    Our favourite product(s) in our shop at the moment would have to be our ‘Tillie’ and ‘Elodie’ sets. These were the starting point of our range and so it only felt right to name them after our nieces! The fabric is weaved and hand printed by a wonderful fair-trade workshop in India. They are experts in cotton weaving/printing and the lightweight organic cotton is great on children’s sensitive growing skin. The peplum design and elasticated waist shorts allow for a lot of movement, which is great for adventurous little ones exploring the outdoors!

    What is your favorite outdoor activity?

    We both have a huge passion for nature and the outdoors which we think shows through our design style. We are very lucky to both live in North Yorkshire, England where there are lots of lovely scenic walks, reservoirs and magical forests! There’s nothing quite like an afternoon spent getting together with family, having a picnic and exploring Brimham Rocks!

    Emma: I recently spent a weekend in the Lake District climbing up the hills and mountains – trying (and failing) to get a cuddle from the little lambs. But there’s nothing more I love in the world than a good dog walk with my mum around the lake next to her house.

    Sophie: I recently ventured a little further afield and went on a 3-week adventure across Canada, where I spent a lot of time exploring forests and mountains and canoeing on lakes and rivers!

    Any advice for parents that want to get their kids outdoors more?

    From a young age, encourage green fingers – get them interested in helping and learning about things in the garden. Maybe they could have a patch that they’ve grown (with your help!) and tend to themselves. Connect them to the Earth. Turn every day into an adventure; go on a bear hunt, search for fairies, and embrace the magic of the outdoors!

    Friday Favorites: Summer Shoes for Kids

    Summer is officially here and it’s time to get outside to explore. If your kids are anything like mine, they’re constantly on the go, in a creek, up a tree, hiking a trail, jumping out of a swing or digging for worms, so they need clothing and footwear that’s durable, waterproof and comfortable. Over the last few years we’ve gone through many a pair of summer sandals and water shoes. Some were destroyed and some were lost. Some were worn only once because they were “pinchy.” Some were worn well past their prime because they were so beloved. I’ve had a few recent requests and questions about summer shoes and gear, so I put together a list of our favorite summer kids sandals below, along with the top picks of a few of my fellow outdoor mamas.

    These summer shoes, sandals and water shoes range anywhere from $18-$55. Most styles come in a wide variety of colors and sizes (from toddler to teen). I’ve found a few of these brands super cheap on sale sites like Zulily or at Nordstrom Rack.  I’ve also had great luck finding some of the more durable brands (Keens, Tevas, Chacos) in excellent shape at local resale shops, so I didn’t pay full price. These brands are super sturdy and hold up for more than once season. They can be passed down to a younger sibling or resold, so you’ll definitely get your money’s worth.

    Friday Favorites: Outdoorsy Instagramers

    Happy Friday, friends! For this week’s installment of Friday Favorites, I’d like to share a few of my favorite outdoorsy Instagramers with you. Two of my biggest passions are getting kids outdoors and photography, so I get very excited when I find other like minded parents with a drive to get their kids exploring outdoors and an eye for images. Each of these accounts are full of gorgeous photos, beautiful words and lot of outdoor activities. We have a few professional photographers, but there are also stay-at-home moms, bloggers, doctors, adventurers and free spirits. We’re featuring accounts from across the country; from the Pacific Northwest and California to Texas and Tennessee, from the mountains to the beach and everything in between. Their styles are all different and unique, but they all share of love of nature, a love for their children and a love of capturing special moments in time.

    I’ve featured images from each of these accounts on the Run Wild My Child Instagram page (I hope you’re following!) and you will certainly see them again. I have found Instagram to be a wonderful place to not only find photography inspiration, but to scout locations and get ideas for planning your own outdoor adventures with your kids.     • Favorite outdoor activity to do with your kids: My kids love the beach, so that’s where we spend most of our time.  But my favorite thing to do is fruit-picking: apples, strawberries, blueberries, etc.  There’s something so timeless and nostalgic to me about it.  Then we take it all home and I make pie or cobbler or jam.
    • Biggest struggle with getting kids outdoors: My kids constantly want to be entertained and they want scheduled activities.  I find it difficult to get them to just be play creatively outdoors in our neighborhood.
    • What you’re looking forward to doing most with your kids this summer: I’m looking forward to beach time and pool time this summer.  It gets pretty hot here in San Diego, so we will be spending lots of time by the water.
    • Advice for other parents about getting their kids outdoors: I find family activities help get my kids outdoors.  If we all go mountain-biking, to the beach, or to play tennis together, it gets us all outdoors and enjoying the activity.

    • Favorite outdoor activity to do with your kids: My favorite is exploring the beach near our house. I am so happy there, and I think it rubs off on the kids. It’s an easy outing that we are all familiar with, and it is close by, so we don’t have to do much planning. All of that makes it makes it extra enjoyable. I know many of my photos look like we are in the middle of no-where, but usually we are just out and about at urban and suburban parks and beaches.
    • Biggest struggle with getting kids outdoors: Living in the PNW, it is definitely the weather. Appropriate and good quality clothing helps, but there are some days it is just too wet and stormy to muster any enthusiasm about going outside. If the wind isn’t bad, I usually make the effort no matter how hard it is raining or how cold it is (for some reason wind really bugs me, and scares me a little.)
    • What are you looking forward to doing most with your kids this summer: We have a lot of camping trips planned, and I am very excited to do these with the kids. We always pick campgrounds we know will be good with the kids. We plan waaaay ahead of time to make sure we have campgrounds and sites that will suit our needs. I am also really excited about watching the solar eclipse with them on August 21st!
    • Advice for other parents about getting their kids outdoors: When I decided to stay home with my kids after my second son was born 2 years ago, and my oldest was then 2 years old (my boys are now 2 and 4 years old), I made a resolution with myself we would go outside a good part of the day, every day no matter the weather. At first it was hard when the weather turned bad, but after awhile, it mostly just became habit. The more I did it, the easier it became for all of us and its sort of second nature now. Start small – you don’t have to go anywhere in particular, you can just explore your yard or your street if that’s all you have time and energy to do, but doing it often will make the big trips easier too.

    • Favorite outdoor activity to do with your kids:  Ooh, this is tough to choose one. Especially since we get to enjoy all four seasons. Favorite Winter activity is skiing as a family, even our not quite two year old & pregnant mama get on skis! In the summer, my favorite is camping!
    • Biggest struggle with getting kids outdoors:  My kids are happiest outdoors as am I, so we can’t get out quick enough each day. It can be a lot of work though. Depending on the weather and how long we’ll be out, multiple changes of clothes & plenty of food for the tribe may be needed!
    • What are you looking forward to doing most with your kids this summer: Camping!  We try to spend as much time in the mountains and near water as possible. We even back packed in when we just had one kid, but haven’t been brace enough to attempt this since adding a second kid. 
    • Advice for other parents about getting their kids outdoors:  Do it daily! Once you get in the habit, it’s just a part of life. Regardless of the weather. Be okay with messy kids. Be okay with no real plans or destinations. Just being in nature is good for everyone!

    • Biggest struggle with getting kids outdoors: Getting past the parking lot. For some reason, from the car to the trail head, there seems to be way more meltdowns than actually on trail.

    • Biggest struggle with getting kids outdoors: How much I need to pack. It’s amazing how much more stuff is needed with two extra littles in tow!
    • What are you looking forward to doing most with your kids this summer: Camping at some of our favorite remote places and also bringing them backpacking for the first time (they’re 3 & 5 and finally able to lug packs for short distances).
    • Do you have any advice for other parents about getting their kids outdoors: Just get outside, and repeat.  I’m amazed at how comfortable my kids are in inclement weather and how excited they get about sleeping outside, and I have it all to thank to taking them outdoors since they were babies.

    • Favorite outdoor activity to do with your kids: In the summer, we hike and climb in the local mountains and the Sierras, and spend time on the coast – surfing, tide pooling, and just hanging out on the beach. We do a lot of weekend day trips and some longer road trips. We are also learning how to climb with help from some friends. In the winter, we snowboard and ski, and we spend more time in the desert than at the beach.
    • Biggest struggle with getting kids outdoors: As a single, urban-dwelling parent with a full-time job, the biggest struggle is just managing time. I only have a handful of weekend days each month when I have the kids all day. I have to be ready to take full advantage of those opportunities, and I rarely let a free day go by without doing something significant with the kids outside. It’s easy to make excuses, to put it off until next weekend, to schedule the kids into weekend activities to avoid doing anything else, to succumb to peer pressure about what you “should be” doing with your kids, to complain about traffic, or just to be too tired. Living in Los Angeles, nature does’t come easy. You have to make an effort.
    • What are you looking forward to doing most with your kids this summer: We are gearing up and practicing for our first backpacking trip this summer. We are hiking into a mountain lake in the Sierras to spend at least two nights. I did so many serious backpacking trips with my parents growing up, and I am really excited to graduate from car camping and take our camping experience to the next level. The kids will complain on the hike, I will have to stay patient and calm, but once we get there I know they will love and be so proud of their accomplishment.
    • Do you have any advice for other parents about getting their kids outdoors: The biggest barrier I’ve seen for parents getting their kids really out into nature is fear. Fear of the unknown and fear of failure. What should we do? Where should we go? What should we bring? How far is the drive? What is there to do when we get there? Is it safe? Are there bugs? Or bears? Will it be cold? Will the kids have fun? And on and on. Going on a your first camping trip or real road trip can feel overwhelming. It takes practice and planning and failing a few times to get it right. To get started, my advice is go small and go often. If you’re out doing something every weekend, your chances of failure might increase but your risk decreases. If an occasional day trip doesn’t work out or it rains or you get lost or someone gets hurt, it’s not a big deal. Work your way up to longer trips – one-nighters, two-nighters. And build your confidence. Take notes, remember what you forgot. And more importantly remember what you brought that didn’t need. Connect with influencers on Instagram, ask questions, join meet ups, adventure with other families. Make a plan and a commitment to go on adventures, and don’t let anything change those plans. The kids will survive missing a soccer game or a birthday party.

    • Advice for other parents about getting their kids outdoors: If we’re feeling unmotivated, which happens to us all the time, I’ll usually pick a new fun spot to go to and make it an “adventure.”  We are lucky to have lots of parks and lakes around us, but it could just be to a local park or a splash pad or a nature walk down the street.  Sometimes we’ll go on a nature hunt and I’ll draw or list things for them to find.

    • Favorite outdoor activity to do with your kids: I love to go on adventurous walks with them and find new parks.
    • Biggest struggle with getting kids outdoors: I don’t have much of a struggle getting my boys outside.  I can’t get them back inside to do homework or take a bath.
    • What are you looking forward to doing most with your kids this summer: I am so excited for summer.  I can’t wait to go to the beach with them.  We love to make sandcastles and play in the waves.
    • Advice for other parents about getting their kids outdoors: I would advise parents to really limit electronics and television starting from a young age.  We try to stick to only an hour of television during the day.  We started talking walks outdoors with the boys from a young age and always encouraged outdoor play.  Sprinklers and a water hose provide hours of play!

    • A little about @forestnfolk: We live in beautiful Southern Oregon just steps away from the evergreen forest. Let’s start with me: I grew up with crazy hippie people who lived off the redwood forest, didn’t drink milk or eat anything processed. I was a barefoot, crazy haired real wild child.  My parents were exceptionally in tune with nature. My father was a 3rd generation forager. He knew every name of every weed, floral or spray. He knew its purpose, if we could eat it or if it was possible to wildcraft. They were some of the most down to earth people you could meet and if you did you fell in love. So naturally I inherited their love for the forest, all of its creatures and it’s magnificent creator. My husband grew up in Bend with a little straighter narrow parents, but indeed outdoorsy. At age 5 he started to hike 10-15 miles pretty frequently and at age 8 he hiked a 50 miler. If there’s a trail in Bend…he knows it. Some of his fondest memories  as a child are on backpacking trips were his father would read huge chapter books late into the night with a flashlight in their tent. So you take two who grew up with the forest as a constant at their feet … you put them together + they make a lot babies and then you get forestnfolk.
    • How do you do it?!!: Our whole marriage we have had comments about ” how do you do it?” ” How do you adventure and travel with all those kids?” Well, the secret is having trust in yourself. I mean yes, snacks, lots of water, games and the occasional bribery of gummy bears, but if you believe in yourself as a parent you can do it. I tell my children often you can do anything you put your mind to. I’m not saying it’s easy peasy. Sometimes I want to pull my hair out just to get out the door, but when we do it’s ALL worth it.
    • Biggest struggled with getting your kids outdoors: I feel like some parents think getting outside is harder than it really is. The truth is children thrive in an outdoor environment. I think being outside is a whole lot easier than being indoors, to be honest. They’re open to imagination out there….they have room to roam….to create the ability to be resourceful for themselves including self awareness. They learn a sense of responsibility.  They have a connection with nature….With living beautiful things around them…it’s quite astonishing actually to see them develop this yearning for themselves.   Trust me I have eight children. It’s extremely nerve wracking when we are stuck indoors and they are asking me to entertain them. Not that I don’t love creating creative outlets just saying it’s easier on me to let them be wild in the woods.
    • What are you looking forward to doing most with your kids this summer: I look forward to many years of outdoor adventure. This summer we don’t have huge plans other than some pretty big hikes with the older kids and a few camping trips. Those camping trips are simple. They are close by. They are cheap, but I know we will be making some of the best memories of our lives. Some of my favorite memories with our kids outdoors are nothing really special, I mean we have some crazy stories to tell from Angel’s landing, trecking the rainforest and caves of Thailand to Kauai’s Napali coastline, but none of them compare to the sweetest sounds of little feet hitting the trail next to us or the wide eyed amazement of finding a new creature. Watching them gaze with astonishment at a magnificent horizon.  To watch my children fall in love with the world in front of me is by far my favorite experience. Adventures are definitely apart of our lives, but THEY are the greatest adventure yet.
    • Advice for other parents about getting their kids outdoors: It’s hard to keep up a persona of a constant outdoor life. I am more than just an outdoor mom. I am mom who reads books in bed, who cooks, who vegges out on Netflix. My kids are more than just adventure kids. They live in a home full of love, they play with legos, they play sports, they are ballerinas, and brothers and sisters. Instagram and these social networks are wonderful ways to meet friends, to feel inspired and away to be creative, but sometimes they don’t show the messy, the real and that is what I enjoy seeing and being. When you create an environment that is relatable it’s easier to connect. It’s refreshing and inspiring. Life is a journey and we are all a wild child on our own adventure trail. Whether it be learning to tie your kindergartener’s shoe, planting a garden or on the cliffs of Kauai. I look forward to seeing each and every family trail and like REI says every trail connects…I candidly think we connect. I have met so many cool people out there from all over the world. Although I want to share our love of the forest…there are still these folks behind the scenes. These real folks who live real lives. Thus I created forestnfolk. I figured if I’m not one’s cup of tea (adventure feed) then they can move on, but as for my tribe we ride real….
    If you look up the definition of wild it says it is living or growing in a natural environment. If we raise wild children to play outside in a natural environment they will flourish. They will develop a since of belonging with their environment and appreciate and want to take care of it as well as grow up to be adults who install the same behaviors in their children an so on. Their natural environment can be anywhere from the forest, park or right in their very own back yard. It feels natural to be in an environment outdoors because we were made to be apart of it. I love meeting wild children big and small. I love being a wild child and I love raising wild children. Here’s to all the wild childs across the globe. May they run, may they be messy and may they be real.”
